Multi-Day Tour Itineraries To Inspire Your Trip

D-Day Beaches & American Cemetery

One of the most humbling destinations in Normandy is the World War II cemetery and memorial in Colleville-Sur-Mer that honors the American troops who died on the beaches and battles in France during the war.

With a staggering 9,388 burials, the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is a place of soulful reflection on the many lives lost during the landings and military operations that followed (of which the cemetery includes maps and details for visitors). At the center of the memorial is the Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves monument and chapel.

If you’d like to visit the Normandy D-Day Beaches & American Cemetery in Colleville-Sur-Mer, clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Utah Beach Landing Museum

Built on the site of the original German Bunkers, the Utah Beach Landing Museum offers visitors a chance to explore a number of excellent exhibitions dedicated to the American forces who first landed there over 75 years ago.

The museum contains exhibitions of The German Defences, The Allied Strategy, D-Day at Utah Beach, The Cotentin Under Occupation as well as featuring an original B26 Bomber Plane (one of only six examples of this aircraft worldwide).

Include a trip to the Utah Beach Landing Museum in your itinerary by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Mont Saint Michel Island & Abbey

Le Mont-Saint-Michel is a small tidal island roughly a kilometer off the coast of Normandy. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, this rocky island has a long and fascinating history; at times being the last standing unconquered outpost in the Hundred Years War before its natural defense was reversed and the island was used as a prison during the reign of Louis XI.

While there are only 30 people who stay permanently on the Island (including the monks), the island attracts over 3 million visitors every year to explore its abbey, and selection of traditional buildings, shops, and restaurants.

With day trips from Paris and other regions available, make sure to include a visit to Mont Saint Michel Island and Abbey in your itinerary by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Abbey of Saint-Étienne

A former Benedictine monastery which is also referred to as Abbey aux Hommes (Men’s Abbey), Abbey of Saint-Étienne was initially founded by William the Conqueror back in 1063!

One of the most important Romanesque buildings in the Normandy region, this stunning structure is embroiled in beauty and history in equal measure; perhaps most interesting is the tomb of the founder, William the Conqueror, whose body was transported to the monastery following his death in Rouen in 1087 for burial.

One of our favorite architectural delights in Normandy; include a trip to the Abbey of Saint-Étienne in your French itinerary by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Rouen Cathedral

After initially breaking ground back in 1030, Rouen’s impressive gothic cathedral took a further 850 years before it was claimed to be completed, and this time and attention to detail can be instantly recognized on first glance at this superb structure.

The cathedral’s influence is not only to be seen (although it is said to be France’s tallest cathedral), but also to be heard as its host city of Rouen (the historic capital of Normandy) is known by many as the “city with a hundred bells chiming in the air”.

In recent years the cathedral’s dramatic facades have been used on occasion as a backdrop for light/illumination shows, which – for those lucky enough to see it – is a truly inspiring visual display and often a favorite of our clients. Book in to explore Rouen and its historic cathedral by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Camembert Cheese & Traditional Cider Tastings

Discover the heart and soul of Normandy through the region’s two favorite culinary delights: Camembert cheese & traditional Normandy cider. First off you’ll pay a visit to the village of Camembert to taste their world-famous cheese, meet the small producers in person and find out how the small farms still make the authentic produce today.

Once you’ve had your fill of Camembert for the morning, we’ll take a short drive to one of the traditional Normandy cider producers for a tasting and tour to find out how their distinctive apples and pears make some of the best hard ciders in the world.

Not a highlight to miss for any of our fellow foodies out there; include a Camembert cheese and traditional cider experience in your tour itinerary by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Caen Trip

Known for its historic buildings from the reign of William the Conqueror (who is buried there) and the Battle for Caen during the Battle of Normandy in 1944, Caen is a stunning city that’s draped in history and significance.

Indeed, the history of Caen is unmissable during a tour of the city with its previously turbulent past memorialized in its well-preserved buildings and castle, as well as a dedicated museum to WWII and its aftermath.

A fascinating place to visit with incredible historical importance; include a tour of Caen in your itinerary by simply clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Bayeux Tours

A beautiful town on the Aure River in the Normandy region, Bayeux’s medieval center is made up of stunning cobbled streets, half-timber houses, and a striking Norman-Gothic cathedral.

The town also is the home of the Bayeux Tapestry which offers a unique insight into the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England in the 11th century. Aside from a number of incredible tourist attractions throughout this small town, the streets are filled with antique shops and traditional restaurants; giving visitors an authentic taste and feel of what life was like in times gone by.

Thinking of including Bayeux in your private tour itinerary? Click ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below and start planning your perfect vacation today!
