Alsace private tour experiences

Located on the border between Germany and Switzerland, the region is famous for blending the cultures together, and this is evident in the distinctive Franco-German architecture and picture-postcard perfect medieval villages in Strasbourg and Colmar, set amongst some of the most gorgeous scenes of natural beauty, mountain ranges and lush green forests, which we strongly suggest you would want to include in your complimentary tour itinerary that our specialists will design for you.

Moreover, any wine aficionados looking to include a tasting session on their tour will be well aware that Alsace is home to some of the highest regarded vineyards to be found anywhere. Meanwhile, if you are arranging your vacation during the winter months, the annual Christmas markets here are world-famous for their authentic rustic wooden booths, hot wine shared between friends, and of course traditional snacks from the region.

Multi-Day Tour Itineraries To Inspire Your Trip

Alsace Wine Route & Villages

Follow the stunning Alsace Wine Route through some of the region’s most beautiful villages producers of exquisite wines. The picturesque, quaint, and colorful villages and medieval castles along the route are almost outdone by the incredible Alsatian Vineyards and the subtle, elegant wines that they produce.

Some especially notable and beautiful villages along the route include: Kayerserberg, Riquewihr, Zellenberg, Mittelbergheim, Andlau, Eguisheim, Bergheim and Hunawihr.

While you may get a quick taste of the route within a few days, one could spend weeks exploring The Alsace Wine Route and its delicious wines one step, or rather one sip, at a time without ever finding themselves lost for things to do!

Include the Alsace Wine Route and its beautiful villages in your tour of France by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Strasbourg Cathedral

Strasbourg Cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of Rayonnant Gothic architecture in the Alsace Region, described by Victor Hugo as a ‘gigantic and delicate marvel’.

For over 200 years, the cathedral stood as the world’s tallest building and can be seen from across the beautiful plains of Alsace and as far as the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains. As one of our favorite experiences in Alsace, we thoroughly recommend a walk around this gothic masterpiece. Include Strasbourg Cathedral in your private tour of France by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.

Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg

The Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg is a medieval castle located in the Vosges Mountains overlooking the stunning Alsace & Rhine regions. Immerse yourself in the Middle Ages and over 900 years of history with a guided tour of the château and its wonderful collections.

While a tour of this beautiful château is not only for the intrepid travelers, it does require the climbing of a sum of 300 steps – all worth the effort when presented with its powerful panoramic views at the top. A truly unforgettable and unique experience, this is truly one of our personal favorite tour experiences in the Alsace region. Include a visit to Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg in your private guided tour of France below.

Petite France, Strasbourg

La Petite France (“Little France”), is a truly incredible historic quarter of the city of Strasbourg in the Alsace region. Known for its iconic architecture and cascading canals which were once home to the city’s tanners, millers, and fishermen, Petite France is today one of Strasbourg’s main tourist attractions and certainly not one to miss when touring the Alsace region.

One of our clients’ favorite ways to experience Petite France is through a private riverboat cruise, allowing them to sit back and take in the beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage site without the strain of walking for hours to see it all! The region also offers a superb selection of restaurants, bars, and antique shops to explore during the evening. Include La Petite France in your private tour of France today by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below and start planning today!

Colmar

The picturesque commune of Colmar and it’s incredibly well-preserved old town is one of the most beautiful regions in Alsace. Known by locals as the “capital of Alsatian Wine”, Colmar was mostly spared from destruction during the French Revolution, making it a hit with tourists from around the globe today looking for an insight into life as far back as the 13th century.

After a walking tour around some of the city’s architectural landmarks (showcasing more than eight centuries of Germanic and French style), why not enjoy some of the region’s excellent wines on the edge of the stunning canals of “Little Venice”?

Click ‘Create My Custom Tour’ and include this incredible commune in your private tour of France!

Freiburg & The Black Forest

Enjoy a trip from the Alsace region to the stunning medieval town of Freiburg, with its impressive minster, little streams and beautiful cobbled plazas before taking a scenic drive through Germany’s famous Black Forest.

Freiburg is known as a vibrant university town, with the youthful locals providing an intriguing contrast to the historic old town rooted in the 11th century which features architectural delights such as the Cathedral of Freiburg overlooking the Münsterplatz Square. Fortunately for tourists, the town is also the gateway to the picturesque Black Forest, where you can drive through the unspoiled meadows, rustic farms & bottle-green pine forests that inspired many, including numerous of the Brothers Grim fairy tales. Include a tour of Freiburg & The Black Forest in your tour itinerary by clicking ‘Create My Custom Tour’ below.
